I would say that two people would be best, but it was doable by myself. Quality of materials is nice. The sheet metal is a good thickness and the tubes seem very sturdy. I have dealt with many a grill in my life and this one has a good feel of the construction and is solid when moving it around. We'll see how it feels in the spring after a winter season.
Cooking on this grill is enjoyable and easy. Heat is well distributed and the burners are the right distance away from the grill surface.
Between the three burner zones and using top shelf for warming or slow cooking corn, this grill gives you many options for cooking. I have minimal flare ups and those only occur when I'm cooking high fat meats where there is a lot of grease dripping down.
While this is technically possible, it isn't the same as a regular charcoal grill. The tray used for holding the charcoal sit closer to the grill surface than it should, making temperatures very hot when the coals are ready and there isn't really a way to mitigate that high heat.
A lower position, or an adjustable system, for the tray would make it much more usable. Getting the charcoal lit using the gas burners seems like a great idea too, but isn't as effective as using a chimney to start the coals and then spread them out. The angle of basin is too shallow to let grease flow into the catch cup and all the scraps from grilling pile up to block the path to the cup. Clean out below the burners is difficult and requires removing the the grates and burner shields and then you have to scoop out anything that's down there.
A removable tray for cleaning would solve all of this. We love it! A small barbecue that can work both ways but doesn't cost an eye! If you want a super professional one then opt for the bigger and more expensive ones but for a small family I think it's ideal. You can decide if you want a quick dinner and use the gas so BOOM your meal is done OR you can take your sweet time and experiment with the charcoal tray to give your steak that awesome smoky flavor.
